Photon Oscillator

This work serves as a highly pragmatic table lamp.   The base provides this sculpture with stability as well as an interesting story.  It was used as a pilot element to light off explosive gasses out of a flare stack in a refinery.  The light fixture is one of the explosion-proof variety, keeping all operators safe from explosion through the lighting off of explosive gasses that might be present.  The middle of the sculpture is an explosion-proof junction box with a high-pressure oilfield valve fitted to its front.  This valve not only looks very serious, but also controls the dimmer, which sets the light level.  The finish is a durable powder coating.
