The Wiggly Staircase

This warehouse staircase combines practical functionality with a avid sense for the whimsical.  Each step of the staircase is a round diamond-plate steel lid from a street box.  These "foot pads" are set opposed left and right for comfort of climbing.  The main structure is a 6 inch I-beam for unwavering strength.   The hand railing is constructed of a semi-flexible, but very stiff steel ducting attached with solid steel bar to the I-beam.  The "landing pad" at the top of the stairs is made with a manhole cover and some heavy duty catwalk grating.  The entire staircase pivots on the manhole cover at the top, rolling on wheels to the best bottom location needed.
